OUR BOTANICAL COMPLEX

Our Botanical Garden in Mount Brydges, Ontario - where the Understory botanical complex is grown.

Grown and harvested in our garden

Our locally grown, signature botanical complex is made up of five superstar plants (calendula, rose, hydrangea, immortelle, and chamomile), each selected for its unique and powerful beneficial compounds. This complex supports our clinical active ingredients to protect, repair and hydrate the skin on a cellular level.

CALENDULA

  • Well-known for its soothing and healing properties.
  • Promotes wound healing by increasing blood flow to the affected area, stimulating the skin tissue to produces collagen, and thereby encouraging new cell growth.
  • Contains high levels of carotenoids, which are powerful antioxidants, protecting skin from the harmful effects of UV light and improving skin tone and brightness.
Rose skincare

ROSE

  • Anti-inflammatory, antioxidant and anti-bacterial.
  • Packed with skin-nourishing vitamins, minerals and antioxidants.
  • Especially suitable for those with acne-prone skin types.
  • The natural oils found in roses act as natural moisturizers, supporting and protecting the skin barrier.
hydrangea garden skincare

HYDRANGEA LEAF

  • Rich in calcium, magnesium, potassium, iron, sulfur and phosphorus.
  • In Asian cultures, Hydrangea leaves are consumed as a tea (knows as ‘tea of heaven’) and as medicine.
  • A recent study showed that oral consumption of hydrangea leaf extract helped enhance overall skin health by decreasing wrinkle depth and improving skin texture, elasticity, and hydration.
Chamomile skincare

CHAMOMILE

  • Well know for its anti-inflammatory and antioxidant properties that can help soothe the skin, reducing redness and irritation.
  • The polyphenols and phytochemicals in chamomile act to speed up cell regeneration, thereby promoting skin healing and reducing the appearance of scars.
  • Chamomile’s antioxidant properties help fight against harmful free radicals, protecting our skin from environmental damage and slowing signs of aging.

IMMORTELLE

  • Helichrysum flowers are also called “everlasting” and “immortelle” because they retain their vibrant color for a long time, even after being cut and dried.
  • Research has shown that helichrysum inhibits the activity of enzymes that degrade collagen and elastin, thus protecting our skin’s integrity and elasticity.
  • Helichrysum oil helps play a role in tissue remodeling after damage, helping scars to heal faster and promoting smooth healing by diminishing extra scar collagen.
